SUMMARY:Leaving a Legacy Program at the Old Forge Library
DESCRIPTION:The Old Forge Library welcomes the community to a thoughtful an
 d informative evening on Wednesday\, August 13 at 5 pm.\, for a special
“Leaving a Legacy” program.\nThis session will be led by David O’Nei
l of LPL Financial in Boonville\, and Brianna Moriarty from the Estate Pla
nning Law Center in New Hartford. Together\, they will offer guidance on h
ow to plan ahead with care\, clarity\, and purpose.\n\nThe program is for
individuals and families who are thinking about the future\, not only in f
inancial terms\, but also in terms of impact. Whether preparing to protect
loved ones\, support meaningful causes\, or simply bring peace of mind\,
participants will gain a clear understanding of what it takes to leave a l
egacy that reflects their values.\nThe presenters will explore common ques
tions that arise when thinking about estate planning:\n\n What legal docu
ments are essential to ensure that my wishes are honored?\n Who will make
decisions for me if I am unable to speak for myself?\n How can I prepare
for the costs of long-term care?\n Are my assets\, including savings and
retirement accounts\, protected and aligned with my goals?\n How can I e
nsure that my estate plan is effective when it is needed?\n\nThis conversa
tion goes beyond legal documents. It is about making thoughtful decisions
today that will bring stability\, dignity\, and care to loved ones in the
future. It also invites participants to consider the broader legacy they l
eave behind\, not only for their families\, but for the communities and va
lues that have shaped their lives.\nAcross small towns like Webb and Inlet
\, legacy giving plays a quiet but powerful role.\nIt helps sustain places
  that matter\, including libraries\, health centers\, fire departments\, f
ood pantries\, and other essential community services. Legacy gifts help e
nsure that future generations continue to have access to connection and su
pport.\n\nSince 1915\, the Old Forge Library has served as a trusted place
for education\, culture\, and community engagement. The library is offeri
ng this conversation with experts as an opportunity for our friends and ne
ighbors to come together and think about the future for our families and f
or a community and way of life\, one with resources kept strong and access
ible for all.\n\nThis event is free and open to the public. Light refreshm
ents will be served. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions
and engage in open conversation with the presenters. For more information\
, please contact the Old Forge Library at (315) 369-6008 or email oldforge
