2023 NYS Woodsmen’s Field Days
This year’s Field Days take place August 18th through August 20, 2023 at the Boonville-Oneida County Fairgrounds, Boonville, Oneida County, NY.
This is the 76th annual gathering and is a major stop on the lumberjack and lumberjill competition circuit. The Field Days brings together a huge variety of forestry related displays of interest to both the professional logger and the occasional firewood cutter.

Military & Seniors 60 & Over – $10
You can purchase tickets with a credit card over the phone by calling 315-942-4593. Your tickets will be held for you at the gates. There is an additional fee for credit card orders.

”The Field Days brings together a huge variety of forestry related displays of interest to both the professional logger and the occasional firewood cutter.
The NYS Woodsmens Field Days, a nonprofit organization, was founded by the Rev. Frank Reed in 1948. With the support of over 400 volunteers, the Field Days have evolved into one of the predominant lumberjack contests in the United States today.”

Competition Events
The center of the field days are the lumberjack and lumberjill competitions that run through Saturday and Sunday. Competitors will participate in a series of events demonstrating their skills. The top five finishers in each competition receives points for how well they did. The overall winners of the Woodsmen’s Field Days be the ones with the most points. Competition events include,
- Log rolling
- Cross Cut Sawing
- Jack & Jill Crosscut Sawing
- Bow Sawing
- Chainsaw open events
- Standing block chop
- Tree Felling
- And Ax throwing!
These competitive events are fun, fast and exciting and you’ll not want to miss a single minute! The NYS Woodmen’s Field Days is always a fun time with lots to see and do. We are looking forward to heading to Boonville and hope to see you there!
