Linda McKenney to perform at the 33rd Annual Not Just for Kids Storytelling

The Friends of Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site will host storyteller Linda McKenney on Sunday, September 28th at 6pm as part of their 33rd Annual Not Just for Kids Storytelling series at Schoharie Crossing.

McKenney will share the story of a relatively unknown activist for women’s rights, some of which were considered extreme. This woman was a stockbroker, newspaper publisher and champion for social reforms. She was considered an uncouth libertine loony by many but that didn’t sway her resolve.

Linda McKenney enjoys bringing historic women to life and sharing stories about her own life experiences. She has two one-woman shows – Susan B. Anthony and Carrie Chapman Catt. She’s brought these women to schools, community organizations and to the United States Army.

Linda is a member of Story Circle of the Capital District. She has shared her stories at various venues including Caffe Lena and won awards for her humorous stories. Linda believes that our stories define us, and we can always do a rewrite.

Linda is a perpetual volunteer, currently active in three social justice organizations: The League of Women Voters, Braver Angels and Creative Action Unlimited.

This program is free family fun. Refreshments will be available. This program is held outside the Visitor Center on Schoharie Street, Fort Hunter. Bring your own chair. If raining, the stories move inside the Enders House.

For more information, please call the Visitor Center: (518) 829-7516, email SchoharieCrossing@parks.ny.gov or find Schoharie Crossing on Facebook.
