FulMont Pride Brings Historic LGBTQIA+ Celebration to the Mohawk Valley — September 21 at SUNY FMCC

JOHNSTOWN, NY — History is being made in the Mohawk Valley! On Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., SUNY Fulton-Montgomery Community College (FMCC) will host the region’s first-ever multicounty Pride celebration: FulMont Pride. With the enthusiastic support of county agencies, the City of Johnstown, FMCC, and an unprecedented coalition of organizations, FulMont Pride is poised to welcome over 1,000 attendees for a day of visibility, belonging, and pure joy.

For the first time in history, county leaders and agencies are joining hands to celebrate Pride, including Montgomery County Health Department, the City of Johnstown, FMCC, and local law enforcement — marking the first time the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department has ever supported a Pride event. Distinguished guests include Congressman Paul Tonko, who will help kick off the festivities, along with invited officials Montgomery County Sheriff Jeff Smith, Johnstown Mayor Amy Praught, and Montgomery County Executive Pete Vroman.

Founded by local resident and technologist Chris Dancy — famously known as “the world’s most connected person” — and his husband, Fernando Albarran, FulMont Pride emerged from a personal story of resilience after Chris was excluded from a local event due to his LGBTQIA+ identity. With the help of A Big Gay Market, and a passionate coalition of volunteers, FulMont Pride has blossomed into a beacon for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies throughout Fulton and Montgomery Counties.

“This is not your traditional Pride celebration,” said Chris Dancy. “We’re here to honor every citizen of our beautiful valley — no matter who you are or who you love. We’re not about one ideology or political party; we’re about welcoming all. Pride begins with feeling at home, and this event is about that warm welcome.”
