Event Type

William Inge’s seminal American play, Bus Stop, opening April 2 at the Players Theatre.

The events of the play take place in a small Kansas diner, where a howling snowstorm has stranded a busload of travelers. Through the night, eight strangers—each carrying private hopes, disappointments, and desires—are forced into close quarters. At the center is Bo Decker, a brash young cowboy determined to marry Cherie, the nightclub singer he’s swept off her feet with all the romantic finesse of a rodeo bull. It’s a warm, funny, and deeply human portrait of unexpected connection.

“The heartwarming script is a mix of longing, loss, love, life lessons, and humor,” says director Marilee Ensign. “The entire story takes place in one night, during which the characters are introduced, develop, learn lessons, and move on. That’s a lot to pack in and a great deal of emotional work for the actors. Let me tell you, this incredible ensemble is up to the challenge.”

The talented cast includes Paulina Ashwell, James Davall, Steven J. Handzel, David Plescia, Andres Roberts, Taylor Staskowski, Samantha Vail, and Stephen Wagner.
