This summer, the Old Forge Library invites the community to explore creativity at “Freestyle Fridays,” a free weekly open-studio craft program held Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. from July 3 through September 4.

Unlike a traditional guided class, Freestyle Fridays offers a relaxed, drop-in atmosphere where participants can explore themed craft stations at their own pace. Designed for all ages and experience levels, each session features more in-depth, hands-on projects that encourage creativity, experimentation, and learning new skills.

This summer’s lineup includes:

• July 3 & September 4: 250th Community Banner Squares
• July 10: Wooden Birds and Birdhouses
• July 17: Fairy Houses and Doors
• July 24: Christmas in July Ornaments
• July 31: Papermaking and Flower Pressing
• August 7: Wooden Fish
• August 14: Woodland Wonders
• August 21: Hats, Shirts, and Bags
• August 28: Rubber Band Looms and Yarn Looms

Participants may stop in anytime during the two-hour session to work on projects at their own pace. The Community Banner Square workshops will become part of a collaborative public art display celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, with each participant contributing a unique fabric square to the finished installation.

Freestyle Fridays are free and open to the public, with all supplies provided. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for crafting. Children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult, and some projects may involve the supervised use of crafting tools such as hot glue guns or irons.

Walk-ins are welcome as materials permit, though registration is encouraged to assist with supply planning.
