Walk and Talk with Friends and Neighbors
Community members are invited to join the weekly Walk & Talk series, held Tuesdays at 1:30 pm from September 8 through October 27. Walkers will meet in the shared parking lot of the Old Forge Library and Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church at 220 Crosby Boulevard.
The format is simple: walk, talk, and get to know the neighbors along the way. Group guides will be on hand each week, with distance and pace adjusted to accommodate the group. Some walkers go farther than others, and that is just fine.
All ages and fitness levels are welcome, including those who are just getting started.
Walk & Talk was created through a collaboration between Niccolls Nurses and the Old Forge Library, with a shared goal of making it easier for people to get moving and spend time together. Margo Boylan, a regular participant, summed it up: “It is so nice to have a time set aside to walk and catch up with neighbors, and there is always someone new to talk to.”
Regular walking can support cardiovascular health, strength, healthy weight, stress reduction and overall well-being. But the best part may be the social connection.
Participants should wear comfortable shoes and come ready to walk, talk, and connect.
