Hospice Bereavement Grief Circle at Old Forge Library
The Old Forge Library will host a Hospice Bereavement Grief Circle on Tuesdays, September 15, October 13, and November 10, from 11 am to 12:30 pm.
The free sessions will be facilitated by the Bereavement Team from Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. and are open to adults navigating the loss of someone they love. Each session offers time and space to talk about the experience of grief in a setting that is supportive, private, and free of judgment.
Bereavement Circles provide a compassionate space for people experiencing loss. Participants may share their feelings and experiences or simply listen, with no pressure to speak. Being with others who understand the experience of loss can ease the isolation that often accompanies grief and remind participants that they do not have to navigate it entirely on their own. Hearing how others cope can also offer new perspectives, reassurance, and a sense of connection during a difficult period.
Grief can affect every part of daily life, and there is no single way or timetable for moving through it. A Bereavement Circle offers an opportunity to slow down, acknowledge what has been lost, and make room for the feelings that come with it. Participants may find that talking openly, listening to others, or simply being in a supportive room with people who understand can provide comfort and strengthen emotional well-being.
Sessions are led by trained bereavement coordinators, counselors, or hospice staff who understand the many ways grief can affect individuals and families. Participants are welcome to attend one session or all three, and no previous experience with a grief support group is necessary.
