Community Solar Education Event
What is Community Solar?
For many of us, solar panels on our rooftop is not an option. Perhaps we live in a rental unit or apartment, or overshadowing trees in the yard make solar panels impractical, or the initial upfront expense is too much,
In situations like these, the New York-sponsored Community Solar program provides an alternative.
A number of private companies that have their own solar installations offer subscriptions. Typically, signup is free and the subscriber will get a 10% reduction (or more if income-qualified) in utility fees. Subscribers may terminate at any time without charge.
The Kirkland/Clinton Climate Smart Community task force will present a forum on community solar on Tuesday, November 17 at 6:00 PM at the Kirkland Town Library, 55 ½ College St., Clinton.
We are fortunate to have Ms. Cara Humphrey as our moderator, to give an overview of how the program works. She is a member of the Austerlitz Town Council, Chair of their Climate Smart Community task force, and the Chief Revenue Officer of Neighborhood Sun, a community solar developer.
In addition, Brad Tito, Director of Community Engagement for PowerMarket will talk about how residents of Kirkland and our region can sign up for one of our community solar programs.
We invite neighbors to attend the forum and learn about this solar program.
