Dual Gallery Openings January 8: PERSONA at Glove Cities Gallery & Micropolis Members Show

Gloversville, NY — The Glove Cities Arts Alliance (GCAA) will kick off the new year with the opening of PERSONA, a compelling new exhibition exploring identity, emotion, and the human condition, opening Thursday, January 8, at Glove Cities Gallery, 52 Church Street, Gloversville.

PERSONA Exhibition at the Glove Cities Gallery

The exhibition opens with a public reception on Thursday, January 8, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., inviting the community to meet the artists, explore the new gallery space, and experience downtown Gloversville’s growing arts scene. PERSONA will remain on view January 8 through February 7, 2026, with the Main Gallery featuring work by Janelle Krause, Ingrid Nichter, and Hannah Williams, and the Balcony Gallery showcasing a private collection from Alex Miller. Curated by Robert Tomlinson, the exhibition examines portraiture as more than realism, focusing instead on empathy, emotional depth, and individuality. Through painting, the artists present intimate and powerful studies that invite viewers to connect with complex personal narratives.

Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery Meet the Artists Reception

The opening reception is part of a broader evening of arts programming downtown. Also on January 8, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery will host a Meet the Artists Reception for From the heART, a members exhibition celebrating the diverse creative work of Micropolis artists. Artwork spanning painting, photography, fiber art, glass, mixed media, jewelry, pottery, woodwork, and more will be on display. Micropolis Cooperative Art Gallery is located inside Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market, 30 N. Main St., Gloversville, and the exhibition will run through the end of February.

In conjunction with the PERSONA opening reception, visitors are also invited to explore downtown living at Glove City Lofts, where a model apartment will be open for viewing on January 8 from 2:30 to 6:00 p.m.Representatives from Glove City Lofts will be on hand to answer questions, share information about amenities, and provide rental applications. The model apartment viewing offers a unique opportunity to experience adaptive reuse living in the heart of Gloversville while enjoying one of the city’s premier cultural evenings.

Together, these events highlight the continued revitalization of downtown Gloversville, blending arts, culture, and residential development into a vibrant and connected community experience.

The PERSONA exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public. Funding support for this program is provided by Saratoga Arts through the Community Arts Regrant Program, made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with support from the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
