Eagle and Chuck Trails Topic of Program at the Friends of Schoharie Crossing March Meeting

Fort Hunter, NY – The Friends Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site will hold the first meeting of 2026 on Tuesday, March 24th at 6PM inside the Enders House on Schoharie Street in Fort Hunter. The meeting will be followed by a presentation on the Eagle and Chuck Trails in Montgomery County by John Naple.

Friends Treasurer, John Naple will speak about the Eagle Trail from Yankee Hill to ol’Port Jackson (South Amsterdam), and “the Chuck” trail in Amsterdam. Learn how these trails came to be and the work that goes into maintaining them. You’ll also see how connected they are for your own recreational enjoyment. John is a retired teacher and is very involved in local organizations such as the Friends of Schoharie Crossing, the Amsterdam Library, and the Chuctanunda Trail.

As always, this program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

We plan to discuss upcoming programs and projects including potential fundraising for the Enders House exterior restoration, ROCK the LOCK and event sponsorships/funding, etc.

The Enders House is adjacent to the Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site Visitor Center, 129 Schoharie St., Fort Hunter, NY 12069. No registration required.
