29th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival
The Jervis Public Library is joining two other Mid York Library System member libraries—Kirkland Town Library and Old Forge Library to bring a unique international cinematic event to local communities. From September 24 through October 4, more than 100,000 cinema enthusiasts around the world will gather at participating venues to watch the same ten short films and help select the festival winners.
The festival’s Mid York Library System screenings include:
- Kirkland Town Library: Thursday, September 24 at 6 p.m.; Friday, September 25 at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.; and Saturday, September 26 at 10:30 a.m.
- Jervis Public Library: Friday, October 2 at 6 p.m. for a special after-hours screening, and Saturday, October 3 at 12 p.m.
- Old Forge Library: Tuesday, September 29 and Wednesday, September 30 at 4 p.m.
This year marks the first time MANHATTAN SHORT has selected ten finalists representing ten different countries: the USA, Ireland, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Moldova, Russia, Cuba, Georgia, and Mexico. Each finalist is also automatically Oscar-qualified, giving local audiences an opportunity to see some of the year’s most promising international short films—and have a direct say in the results.
The festival offers a rare opportunity to experience international cinema close to home while joining thousands of audiences around the globe in deciding which films and performances deserve to win.
