About the author

With a rich background that spans maritime navigation, law, and the judiciary, Mike Misiaszek brings a unique perspective to storytelling. Born in Huntington, New York, Mike spent his childhood in New York Mills before graduating from Notre Dame High School in Utica. He attended SUNY Maritime in NYC, earning a degree in physical oceanography and meteorology, followed by a commission in the Navy as a reserve lieutenant. His adventurous career took him around the world as a deck officer aboard oil tankers and rig boats in the Gulf of Mexico.

Mike transitioned from the sea to the courtroom, graduating from Albany Law School and practicing law in Utica for nearly 40 years. In 2002, he became a part-time city court judge in Oneida, NY, eventually moving to a full-time role in 2019.

When he’s not writing or serving the community, Mike enjoys life on his homestead in Stockbridge, NY, alongside his wife Cathy, their two sons, and a growing family of grandchildren.
