The Institute for Rural Vitality at SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech invites dairy farmers and agricultural producers to participate in our FREE, two-day Value-Added Dairy Production course, held March 19 & 20 from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM in our state-of-the-art Dairy Processing Lab.
This hands-on course is designed for farmers who are considering selling their own dairy products and want a practical introduction to processing, product development, and market readiness.
Participants will begin by learning the basics of milk processing, including essential safety practices and regulatory considerations. From there, the course moves into guided, hands-on production where participants will gain experience making:
- Cheese
- Yogurt
- Ice cream
- Butter
In addition to production skills, attendees will learn the fundamentals of product development, compliance, and marketing, helping them better understand what it takes to turn raw milk into unique, profitable products.
This course is ideal for dairy farmers exploring value-added opportunities, diversification strategies, or direct-to-consumer sales. Participants will also be introduced to additional resources available through the Institute for Rural Vitality, including access to our shared-use dairy processing facilities and business planning support services.
