The Old Forge Library is getting into the Halloween spirit this year with a full lineup of festive events for all ages.

Known for its creative and community-centered celebrations, the local Halloween season is always something special, and the library is excited to be part of it.

Kicking things off are the popular Halloween-themed Grab n’ Go Kids’ Activity Bags. These free kits are filled with crafts, activities, and fun surprises for children to enjoy at home. Each bag includes materials to create 3D vampire teeth, a 3D haunted house, a Halloween hole punch activity, and busy pages such as a Halloween word find and color-by-number sheets. Perfect for ages 4 to 11, bags will be available for pickup on Friday, October 24 from 10 am to 4 pm and Saturday, October 25 from 10 am to 2 pm, while supplies last. With only 96 kits available, registration is strongly encouraged. To reserve a bag for a child, call 315-369-6008 or email oldforge@midyork.org.

Also on Friday, October 24, the library will host its Halloween Party from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.

Families are invited to enjoy an afternoon of hands-on activities, including a candy apple station, cupcake decorating with eerie accents, a spooky trail mix station to customize a bag of Halloween-themed treats, and mask decorating. Costumes are welcome and encouraged. This event is free and open to all.

On Halloween night, Friday, October 31, the library lawn will be part of the village-wide trick-or-treating celebration.

Library staff, friends, and community volunteers will be outside with treats, a cozy campfire, and goodie bags for kids. Families are welcome to stop by, warm up, and enjoy the festivities. The public restroom will also be open for costume emergencies. Those who do not typically get many trick-or-treaters at home are invited to join in. Local businesses, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to help hand out treats and make the night extra special.

Throughout October, the library will also host Free Wednesday Night Craft Get-Togethers, each featuring a different fall-inspired project. On October 15, participants will create bubble-wrap corn. On October 22, the focus will be Diwali quilling. On October 29, attendees will craft mummy candy bowls. These gatherings are a fun and creative way to celebrate the season as a community.

The Old Forge Library looks forward to welcoming everyone this October for a season filled with creativity, community, and Halloween fun.
