Herkimer County Community College to Host Red Cross Blood Drive

Herkimer County Community College is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive on Thursday, January 29, 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Alumni Hall, located in the Robert McLaughlin College Center.

The American Red Cross has announced a SEVERE BLOOD SHORTAGE🩸

Requests from hospitals exceed the available supply of blood, drawing down the blood supply by about 35% over the past month This crisis is being intensified by one of the worst flu seasons in nearly 20 years, which has reduced donor participation, along with intense winter weather that has disrupted more than 400 blood drives and delayed blood deliveries.  Without immediate action, patients who rely on transfusions — including trauma victims, mothers during childbirth, cancer patients, and individuals living with sickle cell disease — may face dangerous delays in lifesaving care. Donors are needed NOW to stabilize the blood supply and ensure hospitals nationwide can continue providing essential care to those in need.
