Junior Rugged Rams Ready for Opening Day
The Junior Rugged Rams are excited to kick off their inaugural season with Opening Day this Saturday, July 18, at Barkley Field starting at 10am. We can’t wait to see our young athletes take the field to showcase their hustle, heart, and teamwork. The Junior Rugged Rams Flag Football Program is about much more than football. It is a community-focused program built on teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal growth. Our mission is to provide every child with a positive experience where they can learn the game, build confidence, develop friendships, and have fun.
Families, friends, and community members are encouraged to come out and support these young athletes as they begin what promises to be an exciting season on Saturday, July 18, from 10am-2pm at Barkley Field. The Junior Rugged Rams is designed to be a true feeder program that helps prepare athletes for modified, junior varsity, and varsity football. The program is guided by a dedicated leadership team that includes Amsterdam Varsity, JV, and Modified football coaches, City representatives, school leadership, athletic department members, legal counsel, parent volunteers, and community members, all working together to build a program centered on integrity, safety, and long-term success.
The Junior Rugged Rams emphasize player development both on and off the field. Athletes will learn teamwork and communication, discipline and accountability, sportsmanship and respect, confidence and leadership and football fundamentals that prepare them for future success. Every player deserves a safe, welcoming environment where they can compete, grow, and take pride in representing their community.
UPDATE** Due to the possibility of rain, we will not be doing any funding announcement with Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara during opening day, we will send out a new date for this in the coming weeks.
The Junior Rugged Rams look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday, July 18, as Amsterdam’s newest youth football tradition officially gets underway. Together, we’re building more than athletes, we’re building the future of our community.
