Organ Recital Celebrates 225th Anniversary of First Baptist Church of Newport
The First Baptist Church of Newport will celebrate its 225th anniversary with an organ recital on Sunday, November 9 at 3:00 p.m.
Guest organist Dominic Fiacco, a junior at the Eastman School of Music, will perform on the church’s historic 1873 Marklove Organ, one of the finest surviving examples of its kind.
Fiacco, recognized by The Diapason in its “20 under 30 Class of 2023,” has performed across New York and Maryland, including at the West Point Cadet Chapel and New York City’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine. He has also appeared with the Syracuse Orchestra and the Hamilton College Orchestra, and performed at the 2024 Organ Historical Society convention.
Founded in 1799, six years before the Town of Newport itself, the church has a long and rich history, with its current stone structure dating back to 1846. Music has always played an important role in its worship, and the congregation is honored to feature Fiacco in this special anniversary event.
The recital will be followed by refreshments in the Fellowship Hall. Location: First Baptist Church of Newport, 7497 Main Street, Newport, NY.
All are welcome to attend.
