The Iroquois Museum presents an afternoon of music and discussion with Lloyd Elm, Jr.

Special Event: Lloyd Elm, Jr.
Saturday, July 26, 1:00-3:00 and Saturday, August 9, 1:00-3:00

Lloyd started the Iroquois Museum at the end of last year. Lloyd, born and raised on the Onondaga Reservation outside of Syracuse, NY, is a direct descendant of the Comanche Chief Ten Bears through his mother, Isa Attocknie, who was a traditional dancer. His father, the late Lloyd Elm Sr., was a respected Onondaga chief and educator who held professorships at both Cornell University and SUNY Buffalo State’s Education Department.

Throughout his presentation, Lloyd shared insights about his upbringing and cultural heritage. He explained his connection to the Onondaga people, the Haudenosaunee Longhouse traditions, and the Comanche Nation. Lloyd is deeply knowledgeable about his roots and the cultural practices of several groups, offering a well-rounded and authentic view of Native American life.

In addition to his cultural expertise, Lloyd is a skilled tradesman, having worked as a journeyman ironworker, and is passionate about preserving his traditions through music and art. A talented traditional singer/songwriter and dancer, Lloyd also carves and plays cedar flutes, crafting them by hand from start to finish. He emphasized the importance of these traditional practices in maintaining the connection to his ancestors.

Please join us from 1-3 pm at the Iroquois Museum, 324 Caverns Road, Howes Cave, NY 12092. This program is included in the admission to the Iroquois Museum.
