The Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., will celebrate the Summer Solstice on Monday, June 22 at 10:30 am with a community gathering designed to mark the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

The program will feature a “Spice of the Sun” chai bar, offering both hot and iced chai. Participants will be invited to blend their own drinks using a selection of spices, each symbolizing an intention for the summer season. Cinnamon represents warmth and momentum, cardamom represents clarity, ginger represents courage, clove represents protection, and black pepper represents boldness. Guests can choose the flavors and meanings they wish to carry into the months ahead.

The experience is intended to be both reflective and sensory, encouraging participants to slow down, create something personal, and welcome the energy of summer in a simple and meaningful way.

The event will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for conditions.

The Summer Solstice marks the peak of daylight and has been observed by cultures around the world for thousands of years. This gathering offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and welcome the beginning of the summer season in community. The program is presented in collaboration with Weaving Home and Niccolls Church.
