Opens Tomorrow, October 22, 2025 at the Frankfort Marina

Wakin’ Bagel is a shop specializing in small batch, hand rolled bagels. Wakin’ Bagel is known for creating unique specials using both seasonal ingredients and flavors from around the world, currently racking up over 250 specials. We have been available at local farmer’s markets and special events for about 3 years. You may also have tried our bagels at local brunches at Tailor and the Cook, Nail Creek Pub, and The BeerHub.

The bagel shop expands what we offer to include prepared bagels and coffee.

Patrick Carney, founder, was born and raised in Utica, NY and has been baking for over 20 years. Over the summer of 2020 he started tinkering with bagels after being inspired by a friend’s wood fired pizza oven. The results were so good that in the following year, as the recipes proved both delicious and consistent, Patrick decided to take a chance on going public. He is on a mission to experiment with new flavors, methods, and ingredients to see just how far he can elevate a humble circle of dough. This past year his wife, Amanda, joined the team to help with the increase in demand and the pending bagel shop.

We are featuring two of our favorite specials to open up the shop.

Coconut is a tried and true special incorporating coconut milk in the dough and toasted coconut on the top. Ashevillian was inspired by a trip to Asheville, NC after trying Pisgah Wild Herb potato chips at The Gourmet Chip Company. Its a beautiful bagel using herbs de Provence, beet powder, and a touch of salt. While we carry Jones Family Farm Creme Cheese, we also are blending our own house flavors.

Did you know…

We will open with meat coming from Slate Creek Farm, in Remsen, and a Bagel Shop Coffee created by FoJo Beans, based in Hamilton.

Wakin’ Bagel supports local farmers and producers as often as possible.
