Rose & Hughes Montgomery County Small Business of the Month

Rose & Hughes Named Small Business of the Month

Family-Oriented Funeral Home Focused on Community

FONDA, N.Y.—It’s been a year since Pete Rose and Marty Hughes partnered with George E. Jendrzejczak to continue a strong legacy of family and community in Amsterdam. The Jendrzejczak Funeral Home was renamed Rose & Hughes Funeral Home and George remained Manager.

Since then, the trio has continued to establish themselves as a force for good—whether helping individuals face one of the most difficult times in their lives, or serving as advocates, sponsors, and supporters of local organizations. Now, Rose & Hughes Funeral Home has been named October Small Business of the Month.

“When we took over ownership of Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, there were a couple of things that were paramount — the cornerstones of our operation,” Rose said. “First, to continue the legacy of caring for our community at the highest standards. Second, to remain community-based — neighbors helping neighbors, through action, not just words. Third, to provide affordable funeral and cremation care. And something many may not know is the level of support we give, because we truly care.”

All three men have been in the funeral home business for decades and come from blue-collar, working-class, faith-based families—Five Corners- The Hill (George), East End (Marty), and Southside/ Town of Florida (Pete).

“Our three unique backgrounds are really part of the same story, and this is what makes Amsterdam home,” Rose said. “It’s what makes Amsterdam and Montgomery County special. Our commitment is part of our legacy, and what we want to be remembered for.

“Rose & Hughes are synonymous with community,” Montgomery County Business Development Director Ken Rose said. “Whether it’s running into families they’ve assisted or seeing their name listed among the many community organizations they’ve supported — the Office for Aging, the Horace J. Inman Senior Center, the Amsterdam Marching Rams, to name a few — their dedication goes far beyond business. It’s about service, integrity, and genuine connection to the people they help every day.”

“Rose & Hughes exemplify what it means to be part of the fabric of Montgomery County,” Montgomery County Executive Pete Vroman said. “Their compassion, professionalism, and commitment to serving families in times of need reflect the strength and heart of our community. We’re proud to recognize them as our Small Business of the Month.”
