The 2026 Herkimer County Local Foods Map is now available from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County in East Herkimer.

Printed copies will be distributed throughout Herkimer County at libraries, farmers’ markets, community agencies, and local businesses. An online version of the map can be accessed at: http://bit.ly/CCEHerkCoLocalFoodsMap

This year’s map features 64 local producers, along with five Herkimer County farmers’ markets. Support for the map’s update and printing was provided through a grant from Herkimer County Mental Health via the Farm Family Assistance Project.

Benefits

Eating locally offers numerous benefits, including access to fresher, better-tasting foods that are often more nutritious than those transported long distances. Purchasing directly from local farmers also helps keep dollars within the community, strengthening the local economy. In turn, this supports the sustainability of farming as a livelihood and helps preserve rural landscapes as productive farmland.
