Gloversville’s Trail Station Park Joins the New York State Birding Trail
Gloversville, N.Y. – Mayor Vincent DeSantis is pleased to announce that Trail Station Park has officially been designated as part of the New York State Birding Trail, further highlighting the community’s commitment to outdoor recreation, environmental stewardship, and eco-tourism.
Trail Station Park
Trail Station Park, located at the corner of Frontage Road and West Fulton Street, is a community hub where residents and visitors can enjoy walking trails, green spaces, and year-round programming. With its central location and easy access to natural surrounding areas, the park provides an inviting gateway for birdwatchers of all ages and experience levels.
New York State Birding Trail
The New York State Birding Trail is a statewide initiative led by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to connect people with outstanding birding opportunities across the Empire State. The trail is not a single physical path but rather a network of premier birding sites that showcase New York’s diverse habitats and bird species. From forests and wetlands to urban parks and shorelines, the trail links over 300 sites that offer safe, welcoming, and high-quality birdwatching experiences.
By joining the New York State Birding Trail, Trail Station Park becomes part of a celebrated network that attracts birders, nature enthusiasts, and eco-tourists from across the state and beyond. This designation recognizes both the park’s accessibility and its role in encouraging the appreciation of wildlife and the natural environment.
“Trail Station Park’s inclusion on the New York State Birding Trail is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Gloversville’s natural assets while supporting recreation and tourism,” said Jennifer Donovan, Gloversville Downtown Development Specialist. “Birding is a growing pastime, and this recognition positions our community as a destination for visitors who want to experience the beauty of nature right here in the City.”
FJ&G Rail Trail was also added to the NYS Birding Trail program with bird spots in Johnstown and Broadalbin.
