Renowned Historian Jack Henke

Jack Henke, a Hamilton College graduate and former history teacher with 37 years of experience, has spent more than 50 years documenting the history of Oneida Lake. His latest book, the fifth he has written about the lake, combines carefully researched history with rare archival photos and well-known stories that have shaped the region for generations.

Guests can look forward to a lively, informal talk in which Henke will share how he conducted his research and discuss some of the book’s images. He will cover topics like local guides, “fish pirates,” old tourist hotels, and how industry grew along the lake. After the talk, Henke will sign copies of his new book, available for purchase at the History Center bookstore.
