Get your 8-Hour Safe Boating Course Complete Before Summer!

Did you know that starting in 2025, every operator of a motorized boat in New York must carry a boating safety certificate under Brianna’s Law?

That means if you operate any motorized vessel — including Jet Skis, WaveRunners, Sea-Doos, or even sailboats with auxiliary motors — you must have a certificate with you while operating the boat.

The good news? You can get certified right here at SUNY Cobleskill Ag & Tech.

The Institute for Rural Vitality is hosting an 8-hour Safe Boating Course that will teach the basic principles of safe and responsible boating. Once completed, students earn their New York Safe Boating Certificate, which is valid for life.

Saturday, May 2
8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Cost: $20 per person

Participants 18+ can pay an additional $10 fee to NYS Parks for the permanent certificate after passing the course.

Whether you’re heading out fishing, cruising the lake, or riding a personal watercraft this summer, we have got your back!
