Understanding Your Electric Bill: Workshop

Electric bills impact just about all of us, putting financial strain on residents all across the state. The bills themselves can be difficult to read, and full of charges that are not intuitive.

While we know this is a passionate and complicated discussion, we will be limiting our workshop to information on how to interpret your bills, and practical solutions to help lower your total cost.

Free Event

Join us at our free event on Thursday, April 23rd at 6:00pm at the Clark Sportscenter (Community Room). Topics will include:

  • How to read your electric bill – overview of the charges, acronyms, and rates
  • Energy Supply Companies (ESCO’s) – how they work, current options, things to watch out for
  • Community Solar – benefits and drawbacks
  • Tips for improving the energy efficiency of your home
  • The role of Smart Meters as a tool to monitor your energy usage

This is an initiative through the following Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) Climate Smart Community (CSC) taskforces:Town of Middlefield, Town of Hartwick, Town of Otsego, and the Village of Cooperstown.

This is also brought about in partnership with the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District, Inc., and the Otsego County Conservation Association.
