The Glove Cities Arts Alliance

The Glove Cities Arts Alliance was founded in 2021 by local artist and arts educator, Janelle Krause, and regional artist, Robert Tomlinson.  The Alliance recently launched Quiet Observations/Fun, the newest exhibition featuring artworks by Alexandra Higgins and Clayton Thomas, at The Glove Cities Gallery, located at 52 Church Street in Gloversville, running now through June 20th.  The gallery is a partnership between the Glove Cities Arts Alliance and Kearney Realty & Development Group and is attached to the new Glove City Lofts complex.

Knuffke and Bisio. Glove Cities Arts AllianceBassist, Michael Bisio, has performed all over the world with artists of all kinds as musician and bandleader.  Regionally, he has been a staple performer at the Karpelles Museum and The Lace Mill, and is the composer of several film, animation, and theatrical scores for such creators as Karl Krogstad, Randy Allred, Vincent Balestri, and Bernard Roddy.  Cornetist, Kirk Knuffke, has often partnered with Bisio, and is also an accomplished composer and bandleader.  His 2022 album, Gravity Without Airs, earned him a New York Times Critics’ Playlist Pick.

“The Glove Cities Arts Alliance is not just about visual arts.” said GCAA Board President, Michael Maricondi. “Through our diverse members, we are able to combine visual, literary, music, filmic, and performing arts to the delight of our community.  The GCAA hopes that this indoor/outdoor concert will be the first of many fruitful collaborations with the City of Gloversville, who believe and invest in not only the arts, but the beautification and enjoyment of the community.”  Saratoga Arts made this program possible through the Community Arts Regrant Program, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
