Amsterdam’s National Night Out

AMSTERDAM, NY – The City of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Tourism, Marketing & Recreation Department are excited to present Amsterdam’s National Night Out, proudly sponsored by the Joseph P. Dwyer Program, on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Veterans Park.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that strengthens partnerships between law enforcement and the community while promoting neighborhood camaraderie to help make our neighborhoods safer, stronger, and more connected.

Residents are invited to join neighborhoods across the nation as Amsterdam celebrates this special evening with fun for the entire family. The event will feature local vendors, delicious food, live music by Steve Cowles, free children’s activities, bounce houses, water slides, police, fire, and public safety demonstrations, and free Stewart’s ice cream.

Families can also enjoy a FREE outdoor showing of How to Train Your Dragon, on the big screen beginning at dusk. In addition, the Amsterdam Municipal Pool will offer free admission and extended hours until 8:00 p.m.

The Amsterdam Police Department will host a 3-Point Shooting Contest, while the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will be handing out toys for children throughout the evening.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, meet our local first responders, enjoy a fun-filled evening, and celebrate the partnerships that help keep Amsterdam a great place to live,” said Mayor Michael Cinquanti

Admission to National Night Out is free, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
