Black Walnut Trees on our property are such beautiful trees! But the nuts require cold stratification in order to sprout. That means the nuts must go through an extended cold period to start the growing process.
Since we moved to the Mohawk Valley we have been working to clear some of the land around the house. We love our trees, but there are a few that were just too closer comfort.
This reel shows you how we collected, husked, cleaned, dried, opened and baked what we harvested. We had a great time and really love the flavor of the walnuts we collected!
