What to expect at Central NY Dairy Day
At this year’s Central NY Dairy Day, we’ll hear from Cornell researchers on achieving higher standards in dairy welfare, maintaining cow comfort, and financial management through expansion projects. Dairy Day will be held from 9 AM to 3 PM on Tuesday, January 13 at the Appley Center (White Eagle Conference Center) at 2798 Lake Moraine Rd, Hamilton, NY 13346, and on Wednesday, January 14 in the Wm Schwerd building at the Saratoga County 4-H Training Center, 556 Middleline Rd, Ballston Spa, NY 12020. Corn & Soybean Day will feature updates and management strategies for New York field crop producers. Experts will cover emerging disease issues, such as tar spot & southern rust in corn, and Sudden death syndrome & white mold in soybeans, along with the latest on field crop entomology. We’ll also hear research updates on neonicotinoid seed treatments, herbicide program recommendations, and results from New York’s herbicide resistance survey. The farm business specialist will discuss the economics of grain drying and storage, while soil specialist Quirine Ketterings will provide information on soil testing and interpreting results. Corn & Soybean Day will be held 9 AM to 3 PM, also at two locations: on Tuesday January 20 at the Appley Center in Hamilton, and on Wednesday, January 21 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County Auditorium, 50 W High St, Ballston Spa. 2.75 NYSDEC pesticide applicator credits can be earned (cat. 1a, 10, 21, and 23), as well as 4 Certified Crop Advisor credits (2.5 IPM, 1.0 Soil & Water Management, and 0.5 Professional Development).
