Event Type

On Tuesday, September 16, starting at 5 pm, the Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., will host a casual dinner and meet-the-candidates event to celebrate National Voter Registration Day.

The community and all candidates running for office in the Town of Webb are invited to attend. There will be no speeches and no microphones, we’ll just gather to enjoy taco salad and get a chance to mingle. Everyone will have an opportunity to ask questions of attending candidates in a relaxed setting without an audience.

This informal gathering allows for those seeking public office to meet face-to-face with local constituents and provides an opportunity for the public to become more familiar with those running and local issues before Election Day.

September 16 is National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating our democracy. It has quickly gained momentum since it was first observed in 2012, with more than 5 million voters registered to vote on the holiday to date. Celebrated every September, National Voter Registration Day involves volunteers and organizations from all over the country hitting the streets in a single day of coordinated field, technology, and media efforts. Voter registration forms and assistance for anyone who wants help will be available all day on September 16.

There is no charge to attend or for dinner. Library events are family-friendly and open to all.
