Summer Reading at the Old Forge Library: Jared Campbell
To cap off a summer of digging deep into books, the Old Forge Library invites families to the front lawn on Thursday, August 13, at 1:30 pm for a live, interactive concert with award-winning Upstate singer-songwriter Jared Campbell.
The one-hour performance marks the finale of the library’s 2026 Summer Reading Program, “Unearth A Story.”
A long-time favorite with local kids and visiting families alike, Campbell brings a high-energy mix of original songs, acoustic guitar, storytelling, and quick-witted humor. Over the past decade, his school and library performances across the country have built a reputation for getting entire crowds on their feet, singing along, and participating from the first chord to the final bow.
Beyond the music, Campbell’s songs carry grounded, real-world messages about resilience, standing up for friends, leadership, and finding confidence in who you are. For the library staff, bringing Campbell back to Crosby Boulevard was an easy choice to celebrate everything young readers unearthed this season.
“We just love having Jared here,” said Summer Reading Program leader Beverly Meeker. “He has such great energy, and the kids absolutely adore him. Having him out on the lawn is always a highlight of our summer.”
