Mohawk Valley Featured Farm:Pine Hills Farmstead
Mohawk Valley Today loves to highlight farms in our region as part of our agricultural program. We do this not only to support farmers, but to let residents and visitors know where they can get fresh, locally grown food for their table. With so many growers and producers throughout the valley, We still have a lot of work to do! Today, we’re excited to share our featured Mohawk Valley Farm – Pine Hills Farmstead!
About Pine Hills Farmstead
Pine Hills Farmstead is owned and operated by Erin Grygiel and her husband Clayton along with their two children, Olivia (10) and Noah (5). Originally from Brant Lake in the Adirondacks, Erin moved to Frankfort in 2014 with her husband Clayton to work at his family business Pine Hills Golf Course. Since moving here, they have taken over managing the golf course and are now the 3rd generation in the family to do so since the course first opened in 1954.
Pine Hills Farmstead
Always having an interest in gardening Erin started out small like most people do, with a backyard vegetable garden and perennial cottage garden in her front yard. As the years went on her gardens got bigger and she began to experiment more with different types of flowers and vegetables. In 2019, Erin and her family moved from their first home to live on the golf course. She was devastated to leave her beloved gardens behind but she was also excited to create new ones at their new home. In 2021, her gardening obsession finally prompted her to officially start Pine Hills Farmstead LLC. Erin realized that she wasn’t getting any younger and if she wanted to make her farming dreams come true, the time to start was now!
In their own words,
One of my favorite parts about gardening is getting to do it with my children. It allows them to connect with nature instead of being caught up in our busy world and learn how to live off the land. I hope that they carry the knowledge they gain now into their adulthood and use it to help make the world a better place!
