Free Business Development Bootcamp Begins August 24!
Do you know someone who has a business idea, or a small business owner looking for a better plan to grow? The Institute for Rural Vitality’s Business Development Bootcamp is now accepting registrations for its next cohort, beginning August 24.
The Institute for Rural Vitality at SUNY Cobleskill is helping the next generation of entrepreneurs turn their ideas into thriving businesses through a new Business Development Bootcamp, beginning August 24th. The program is completely free and will be held online, making it accessible to aspiring and established business owners across New York State.
“The Business Development Bootcamp is about building capacity and confidence,” said a representative of the Institute for Rural Vitality. “We want to empower people in our region with the knowledge and support to grow their businesses — and to show them that success in rural entrepreneurship is absolutely possible.”
Free business training
This FREE, fully online program helps aspiring entrepreneurs and small business owners work through the fundamentals of starting and growing a business, including business planning, financial fundamentals, strategic decision-making, and sustainable growth. Participants will develop a practical business plan while learning about resources and opportunities available to entrepreneurs in our region.

When: August 24 – November 4, 2026
Where: Fully Online
Days-time: Mondays & Wednesdays | 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Cost: FREE
The program is led by Dr. Vincent Porfirio, who returns as instructor after leading our most recent cohort. Vin brings extensive experience in business strategy, leadership, and real-world problem-solving.
