Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Grant Applications Available
Amsterdam – The City of Amsterdam Community & Economic Development Department is accepting applications for the Amsterdam 2024 Owner-Occupied Housing Rehab Program. Applications for grant assistance under this program must be received by 12/13/2024.
In 2023, Amsterdam was awarded $500,000 in funding to assist up to 10 homeowners with housing repairs. This funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Housing Trust Fund Corporation (HTFC) of New York State, and Homes and Community Renewal (HCR). This NYS HOME Program provides critical resources to communities for collaborative efforts to improve housing stock and revitalize neighborhoods by granting assistance to low to moderate income homeowners with much-needed funds to improve and rehabilitate affordable housing in our city.
Homeowners that qualify for these funds are eligible to receive grants up to $50,000 for their housing repairs. Grants are intended to be utilized for rehabilitation of homes to address code violations, make health and safety repairs, install or upgrade mechanical systems, and undertake energy efficiency improvements. Homes must be owner-occupied, and the homeowner must be current on their mortgage and taxes, have active homeowner’s insurance, and be willing to have a lien placed on their home. Households must meet income eligibility by falling under 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).

Family of 2 – $53,450
Family of 3 – $60,150
Family of 4 – $66,900
Family of 5 – $72,150
Family of 6 – $77,500
Family of 7 – $82,850
Family of 8 – $88,200

Seeking General Contractors for Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation
Amsterdam – The City of Amsterdam Community & Economic Development Department is seeking assistance from Lead Certified General Contractors for significant renovation projects through the Amsterdam 2024 Owner-Occupied Housing Rehab Program. Statements of Qualifications from interested contractors must be received by 12/13/2024. All interested applicants must be registered on the City of Amsterdam Community and Economic Development Approved Contractor List.
