Herkimer County Community College to Host Fire in the Sky Palooza

Herkimer County Community College will host the Herkimer County Fire in the Sky Palooza on Wednesday, July 1, at Wehrum Stadium, welcoming the community for an evening of music, family activities and fireworks.

The evening will feature food trucks, family-friendly activities, live entertainment and a spectacular fireworks display. All activities will take place at Wehrum Stadium, with fireworks launched north of the reservoir.

Live entertainment will kick off with Gridley Paige AM Gold (The Yacht Rock Experience) from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by a performance by the Syracuse Symphony from 7:30 p.m. until dusk. The Syracuse Symphony performance is made possible through an endowment to the Herkimer County College Foundation established by the late Robert H. Wood, a longtime resident of Ilion.

In recognition of America’s 250th anniversary, the Herkimer County 250th Revolutionary War Commission will offer special commemorative activities throughout the evening.

Parking will be available at the Herkimer County Community College campus, the Walmart parking lot in Herkimer, Herkimer High School, the ARC Building at 420 E. German St., the parking lot across from the Herkimer County Building on N. Washington Street and the VFW parking lot on Mohawk Street. Shuttle service will be available from all designated parking locations.

Limited seating will be available in the stadium bleachers, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Fireworks may be viewed from Wehrum Stadium and the Herkimer County Community College parking lots. The event is free and open to the public, with the exception of food trucks and concessions. Alcohol, coolers and animals are strictly prohibited.

The College extends its sincere appreciation to the event sponsors whose support helps make Fire in the Sky Palooza possible.
