We’re going into this weekend with some great events. There’s really something for everyone to enjoy. Egg Carton Bats
Join the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library in the classroom on October 11th at 2:00 p.m. for fun making bats out of egg cartons; prepare to get a bit messy! This is a free program for kids. For questions call 518-673-2314 ext. 106 or email info@arkellmuseum.org.
Amsterdam WishFest
WishFest is a community music festival started seven years ago with a mission to make a difference in the community. This year, WishFest will kick off at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 12th , at Bridge St in Amsterdam. The stage will feature musical acts, plenty of food & drink, activities for all ages, ending with a spectacular fireworks celebration at dusk!
Amsterdam’s beautiful Bridge St is located on the banks of the Mohawk River. There is plenty of room to walk, or set up your lawn chair and blankets for a great day for a great cause.
Little Lies is an 8-piece tribute To Fleetwood Mac
Little Lies is an 8-piece tribute from Boston performing an authentic playlist of your favorite Fleetwood Mac hits. Join us for a night of romance, drama, and, of course, Rumours! Featuring two female and two male vocalists, along with an ensemble of professional musicians dedicated to capturing the magic of one of the world’s most successful bands! Celebrate Fall in Downtown Gloversville

Path Through History Events Slated for Schoharie Crossing
Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site will host events for the statewide Path Through History Weekend on Saturday, October 12th and Sunday, October 13th. The events, including the Aquaduct and Empire Lock Tours and games, are meant to bring awareness to our rich heritage in New York and the Mohawk Valley. Gloversville Fall Fest continues on Saturday
Gloversville Rec’s Fall Fest is on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Trail Station Park. With so much going on, you’ll love all of the vendors, pumpkins, games, trick or treating, costume contest and so much more! Also in Gloversville, The Glove Theatre will be offering the silent horror film, “Der Golem” with the original score performed live by Ryan Spilken during two shows at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Get ready for spooky season with a “Haunted Basement Screamraiser” on October 12 and 13 in the Park Terrace Elementary School’s basement at 4:00-6:00 p.m. (child-friendly version) and again from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Fenimore Art Museum – Tour & Storytime for Families
Fenimore Art Museum offers the program “Tour & Storytime for Families” on Saturday mornings at 11:00 a.m. throughout the month of October. Museum docents will read aloud one of the books featured in the exhibition Young at Art: A Selection of Caldecott Book Illustrations and then offer a kid-friendly mini-tour. Attendees will then select their favorite illustration in the exhibition and create an artistic bookmark to honor the book from which it came. The program runs on Saturdays, October 5, 12, 19, 26, at 11:00 a.m. and is included with museum admission. Ages 19 and under are free. More information at FenimoreArt.org.
Tractor Fest at The Farmers’ Museum
Learn about the world of tractors and everything they powered on New York State farms at The Farmers’ Museum’s annual Tractor Fest, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, October 12-13, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. See classic tractors, small engines, and other machinery, illustrating the growth of farming technology.
Savor and Save Food Preservation Classes
CCE Oneida for series of Food Preservation Classes from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. starting Saturday October 12, 2024 at the Oneida County Home and Farm, (CCE Office) Building on 121 Second Street, Oriskany, NY. The series focusing on storing, preserving, and savoring the produce you buy from the Oneida County Public Market (or other markets!). Board Game Workshop for Kids
Fenimore Art Museum will offer a Board Game Making Workshop for Kids ages 8-12 on Saturday, October 12 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. Participants will create their own board game to take home. This fun workshop is inspired by the children’s book “Jumanji” by author and illustrator Chris Van Allsburg which is featured in our special exhibition, Young at Art: A Selection of Caldecott Book Illustrations. Children will decorate a game board, design their own play pieces, and use them to create their own variation of a classic board game from the 19th century, which they will then learn and have a chance to play with their fellow participants. Dinner Theater Murder Mystery: Curtains for Frangelica
The Herkimer County Historical Society presents the Cynthia Quakenbush production of an interactive evening of mystery and fun as we search for the missing Frangelica! This will be a great social event. Murder Mystery: Curtains for Frangelica, takes place on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at the Herkimer Elks Lodge located at 124 Mary Street, Herkimer, NY. Pumpkin Festival
The annual Pumpkin Festival takes place at 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at Empty Pockets Ranch located at 5172 State Route 145, Cobleskill, NY.
That’s right, they’re doing it again this year! This is Empty Pockets Ranch final celebration of fall, with a culmination of harvesting all of their crops of the season. Weather permitting, their U pick flowers will still be open, pumpkins, vendors, pony rides, pumpkin carving contests, pie eating contests, performances and more. Local Foods Local Spirits
The Local Foods Local Spirits party starts at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Cooperstown Farmers Market located at 101 Main St, in Pioneer Alley, Cooperstown, NY. Otsego 2000 will showcase the bounty of the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market and the talent of area chefs at the Local Foods Local Spirits party. This fundraiser for the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market.
