Network, Explore, and Invest in the Mohawk Valley’s Brownfields
The 2nd Annual Mohawk Valley Brownfields Developer Summit is a continuation of the collaborative efforts between economic development agencies across the six counties of the Mohawk Valley and the Mohawk Valley Economic Development District, Inc (MVEDD).
The Summit will be held April 25 – 26, 2023 at Herkimer College in Herkimer, New York.
This event will provide developers a dynamic in-person opportunity to network, explore, and invest in the Mohawk Valley’s Brownfield rebirth. According to Stephen Smith, Executive Director of MVEDD,
“The Summit will provide an opportunity to connect brownfield developers with local economic leaders who have sites ready for remediation to push economic growth in the region.”
There are unique economic development opportunities within the region, and the area has been awarded Downtown Revitalization Initiatives (DRI) and Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) for Herkimer, Amsterdam, Gloversville, Little Falls, Rome, and Utica, along with a Restore NY grant to Ilion. With the passing of the CHIPS and Science Act, investments in the semiconductor industry in the Mohawk Valley have reached historic heights, and the investments are still coming. This surge in economic activity is putting the focus on preparing sites for industrial, commercial, residential, and infill development.
Speakers will spotlight why investing in the Mohawk Valley has never looked brighter.
Seasoned experts from the public and private sectors will discuss the Valley’s needs, redevelopment opportunities, available financial incentives and why businesses are investing in the Valley. Sites that are prioritized for redevelopment will be showcased during the Summit.
