To help connect and conveniently distribute the goods of local farmers, craftspeople, and artisan producers to local customers as a means of cultivating a robust local economy— one that emphasizes the importance of community resilience and transparency in the face of macro events.

The Oneida County Public Market (OCPM) was established in 2011 by County Executive Anthony Picente, Jr. as an economic development initiative with a primary goal of establishing the first year-round produce market in downtown Utica, a community classified as a food desert by the USDA. The dual focus of this initiative included not only the establishment of the Public Market, but the revitalization of the long shuttered Railroad Express Agency (REA) wing of the Union Station.

The market is open on Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm
The  Market is located at the Foothills, Market Street, Oneonta.
Please use recommended best practices for social distancing, face masks and sanitation. It is helpful to reach out to vendors directly and pre-order items to speed up time at market and attempt to ensure ample supply.

Growers, producers, and artisans, all located within 50 miles of Cooperstown, provide your weekly staples including fresh seasonal produce, pasture-raised meats, handmade breads, artisan cheeses, grass-fed milk and free-range eggs. The Cooperstown Farmers’ Market and the Cooperstown Lions Club have partnered to offer SNAP Match. SNAP Match enables customers to stretch their grocery dollars by doubling an EBT coin distribution with SNAP Match Vouchers. In 2020, the Community Foundation of Otsego County provided a grant to increase the SNAP Match by $10 in light of the pandemic. The SNAP Match PLUS program provides a 1:1 match up to $15, PLUS an extra $10. Market customers using $15 or more in SNAP benefits will receive an extra $25 to spend at the Market.
