Schoharie County Farmers Market Announces Inaugural Season Details
Cobleskill, NY — The Schoharie County Farmers Market is excited to announce its inaugural market season, bringing local food, farm products, and community together at a new location: the Hall of Agriculture at the Schoharie County Sunshine Fairgrounds in Cobleskill.
The market will be held Sundays from May 24 through October 11, Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
We will be creating a vibrant weekly destination for residents and visitors to shop locally and connect with the region’s agricultural community. This new location marks an exciting step forward for this project as organizers work to expand access to fresh, locally produced food while celebrating the farmers and producers who sustain Schoharie County’s agricultural heritage.
“The mission of the Schoharie County Farmers Market is to strengthen our local food system and celebrate agriculture as a cornerstone of our county’s identity and economy,” said Farmers Market Board Chair Naomi Pickett, “our goal is not only to create a thriving marketplace for local producers and artisans, but also to ensure that fresh, locally grown food is accessible to everyone in our community. The market will be a place where agriculture, food access, and community connection come together. It’s very exciting to announce the official launch of a project that is over a year in the making.”
The market will feature a diverse lineup of vendors offering other locally produced items in addition to music and family friendly activities. Organizers hope this location will help the market grow while providing a central, accessible venue for the community, as highlighted from the project’s previous community survey and listening sessions.
Vendor applications are now open, and farmers, food businesses, and artisans interested in participating in the upcoming season are encouraged to apply.
Vendor preference will be given to those from Schoharie County and within a 50-mile radius. Applications are due March 31st.
The Schoharie County Farmers Market invites the community to mark their calendars and join in celebrating the opening of the market on Memorial Day weekend, Sunday May 24th.
