Spring Story Time at the Old Forge Library
Friday at 10:15 a.m. is the last chance for children to have fun during this year’s program. Designed for children ages 3–6, Story Time is a fun, engaging experience led by a friendly and enthusiastic library staff. During these 45-minute sessions, children will enjoy a variety of activities, including storytelling, creative play, games, crafts, songs, and other interactive activities designed to inspire imagination and creative thinking. Mario Kart Competition at the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library
Join the Arkell Museum and Canajoharie Library on May 16th at 2 p.m. in the classroom for a Mario Kart Competition. We’ve got a Switch all set up and ready for you to battle your friends across the finish line. This program is free for kids and teens. Registration requested: Please use this link to register. Montgomery County 250th Commission Kick-Off Event
As the nation gears up to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence, Montgomery County’s 250th Commission is proud to host “250 Years of Freedom: Liberty Day & Pole Raising” on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha National Shrine and Historic Site, 3636 Route 5, Fonda, New York. This family-friendly event will include a ceremonial liberty pole raising and reenactment at 1 p.m., live music, 18th-century games, craft vendors, and tours of the museum and grounds. Curbside Catering and Eisenadler Brauhaus will also be on site.
Workshop: Raised/Embossed Beading with Wilma Cook
Join Mohawk artist Wilma Cook at the Iroquois Museum, Saturday, May 17, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for a Hands-on Workshop exploring the art of raised beadwork, a technique practiced by Mohawk and Tuscarora artisans since the 1800s and popularized during the Victorian era. Participants will learn the basics of the technique and create designs such as flowers, leaves, or strawberries. Easy edge beading will also be taught. Cost: $105 members / $115 non-members

Amsterdam Spring Fling Sponsored by The Sentinel of Amsterdam
The City of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Tourism, Marketing & Recreation Department proudly present Amsterdam’s Spring Fling Festival, sponsored by The Sentinel of Amsterdam, Saturday, May 17th from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Main Street in Downtown Amsterdam. Enjoy a variety of activities for families including arts and crafts, vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, a DJ from 11am-2pm, and Karaoke from 2:30-5pm. This event also provides an excellent opportunity to visit downtown businesses and enjoy the pleasant spring weather.
Enjoy a fun-filled evening at the second annual St. Francis de Sales School’s Spring Soirée!
The annual Spring Soirée is on Saturday from 6-9 p.m. Your admission ticket provides you with delicious light fare food stations and hors d’oeuvres, an open bar featuring beer, wine, mixed and soft drinks, music, and mingling. Try your luck with our basket raffle, featuring 60+ baskets and prizes, and bid on luxury items and dream vacation venues in our Silent Auction while you delight in the company of family and friends. This is an adults only event. Cocktail attire is suggested. Purchase of basket raffle tickets and bidding on silent auction items is an additional cost. Fulton County Historical Society History Fair & Ice Cream Social
The History Fair & Ice Cream Social is on Friday, May 16th from 6 – 8 p.m.! Two of the historical society’s popular annual events are joining forces! The Ice Cream Social kicks off the summer season and marks the official opening of the museum for the year. History Fair (typically held in October) is a chance for local museums, historians, re-enactors, authors, and community organizations to share all the great work they’ve been doing. Enjoy a scoop of ice cream and your choice of toppings, explore the museum, connect with friends and neighbors, and discover something new about Fulton County! Rain or shine! Tickets are $5 per person or 5 for $20. Tickets are available at the door.
Join everyone at Dorn Space (99 N. Main St.) on May 16 at 7:30 p.m. for Lucas Garrett and Thom Carvey in concert (admission is $10 – cash/door only). Doors open at 6:15 pm. On May 16 at 7 p.m., The Glove Theatre, 42, N. Main St., will host the group Berkstar. Table seats are $25 and general admission is $20. Tickets can be purchased online at ticketstripe.com/BERKSTAR. On May 18 at 2:00 p.m., The Glove Theatre will host Joey Sendzik in the educational program “Dam It! Beavers and Why They Are Dam Important!” Free event! Don’t miss the City Hall Gloversville City-Wide Garage Sale on May 17 and May 18. During the weekend, the Gloversville Senior Citizens Center, 53 Church St., will host a “Junk in the Trunk” sale on May 17 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
