A Mohawk Social Dance at the Foothills
In celebration of Native American Heritage Month, the Foothills Performing Arts Center in Oneonta will host A Mohawk Social Dance on Monday, Nov. 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the atrium.
Kanerahti:io DJ White, an award-winning dancer, cultural educator and craftsman from the Kanienke’haka/Mohawk community of Akwesasne, will lead the event with the Rise Up Studio Dancers and Singers. Known for sharing the traditional and contemporary dances, songs and teachings of the Haudenosaunee/Iroquois people, White is also a sought-after regalia maker whose artistry reflects deep pride in his heritage.
The event, free and open to the public, is presented through collaboration between collaboration between Hartwick College, SUNY Oneonta, and community partners.
