Statement from County Executive Pete Vroman

Closure of Arkell Hall Foundation Adult Home

The Arkell Hall Foundation’s decision to close its adult home is heartbreaking and our thoughts are with the residents, families and staff affected. I’ve been in close contact with the foundation’s executive director to understand the situation and explore ways the county can assist during this transition.

Our top priority is supporting those impacted-both displaced residents and employees. The Arkell Hall Foundation and the Office for Aging are working together to coordinate placement options and expand in-home services, especially for seniors who may be isolated.

We’re also working to connect displaced employees with job openings across county departments. Additionally, some staff may transition to roles at the new community recreation center being built by the foundation, which will continue to serve Canajoharie   in meaningful ways.

The Arkell Hall Foundation will continue operating its senior apartments, and we believe there is room for growth in that area to meet the ongoing needs of our aging population.

We remain committed to working with all partners to ensure strong, compassionate care for Montgomery County’s seniors.
