Diamond Mountain Mining
Description
Diamond Mountain is a world-class Herkimer diamond collector’s mine where rare Herkimer diamond quartz crystal forms such as black stem scepters and barbells are found.
In addition to classic clear doubly terminated gems, the land is also well known for its hydrocarbon-included “black diamond” quartz, cathedral-like skeletal crystals, and complex Herkimer diamond forms.
Diamond Mountain Mining, LTD. mines and sells crystals for both retail and wholesale from its commercial mine and also hosts guests for paid dig experiences by reservation, inviting visitors to hunt for these approximately 450 million year-old crystals in its forested digging area. The 187 acre property boasts views of the Mohawk River, multiple dig sites, beautiful forest trails, as well as a spring-fed waterfall. At the time of its recent purchase in 2020, this was the last large undeveloped parcel of Herkimer diamond bearing land remaining in Herkimer County, the only place in the world where these particular quartz crystals are found.
