Farmers’ Museum Junior Livestock Show results for Herkimer County 4-H
Congratulations to the ten Herkimer County 4-H members that participated in the 76th Annual Farmers’ Museum Junior Livestock Show held in Cooperstown from July 7-9.
Sponsored by The Farmers’ Museum and conducted in cooperation with Cornell Cooperative Extension, county 4-H educators, the show brought together almost 200 youth handlers who exhibited over 500 animals including beef, dairy cattle, dairy goats, meat goats, sheep and swine from a nine-county area for three days of competition. Herkimer County participants included: Addison & Erin Brown, Isabella Burton, Hannah Carnright, Mellena Hawkins, Noah Hula, Logan & Lucas Humphreville, Nathen Teachout, and Lily Simmons.
Highlights include Hannah Carnright being the recipient of a Chobani Scholarship as well as being the Reserve Master Showman of dairy goats. Hannah also exhibited the Champion Oberhasli milker & best udder of the Oberhaslie dairy goat show with Owl-Ridge Zephyr, along with the champion junior Oberhasli doe with Ha-Ha Acres Zilly. Lucas Humphreville exhibited the champion Nubian milker and best udder of the Nubian dairy goat show with Painted Sparrow’s CBG Lavender, along with the champion junior Nubian doe with Painted Sparrow’s BP Loon. Other highlights include Mellena Hawkins exhibiting the class winner with crossbred breeding gilt in the swine show.
