About Lyons Family Homestead

“Our journey to build Lyons Family Homestead began with a simple dream: to create a lifestyle where we could be fully present for our children, homeschooling and raising them together at home. We wanted to teach them the value of hard work by having them alongside us every day.

As we brainstormed ways to make a living from home, we realized that farming could not only sustain our family as we transitioned out of military life but also could provide fresh, organically raised food for us and the community plus build relationships. And so, Lyons Family Homestead was born in 2023 from the ground up!”

The “good old days are now” is a quote we try to live by here on the farm. A way to remind ourselves during the hustle and bustle to stop, slow it down and soak it all in before the days pass on by!

What you’ll find at Lyons Family Homestead

Visit the self-serve farm store open 7 days a week from 8am-8pm at 231 Sanders Road, Fort Plain, NY.

The farm store offers organically raised chicken, thanksgiving turkeys, eggs, in season veggies, flowers, alpaca products and laser engraved gifts. Along with other local products from small farms/businesses including beef, honey, syrup, milk, and baked goods on the weekends.

Additionally, the Lyons Family Homestead offer a lot more experiences on the farm for people to enjoy.

Alpaca treks

Alpaca treks are a popular one! Guests can experience a one-hour tour trekking with their own alpaca around the farm. It’s a great way to get up close and personal to friendly animals. These treks with the alpacas also lead to great photo opportunities that they will gladly help you with.

Farm Stay Program

The Farm Stay Program is one of the Lyons Family Homestead’s newest experiences just completed! “We’re thrilled to offer guests a taste of authentic farm life. Our goal is to bring people to our area to experience firsthand what our daily life on the farm is like and what the Mohawk Valley has to offer all around us. Our new rustic tiny cabin perched atop the hill, gives a place for guests to enjoy a secluded retreat with breathtaking views overlooking our farm. It’s a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, unwind, and witness the beauty of farm living. Alpaca walks are included in every stay!”

Did you know…

Other than our Alpacas we also have Valais Blacknose Sheep, Babydoll Sheep, Goats, and Highland cows on the farm!
Our children pick flowers every morning and offer a “pay what you want” stand down by the road. It makes them happy to see what they get at the end of everyday.
