This time of year offers so much in the way of fresh fruit and vegetables along with other forms of local produce. With so many growers and producers throughout the valley, visiting a farm store or farm stand can be just a short drive from your home. This week, we’re excited to share our featured Mohawk Valley Farm – Tibbitts Bros. Farm Stand.

About Tibbitts Bros. Farm Stand

Tibbitts Bros. Farm Stand is a unique farm stand started by two young brothers, Gordon and Kyle, who were 11 and 6 when they began in 2020. Gordon and Kyle are 5th generation maple syrup producers.

Farming and sugaring has always been an interest to them.

They wanted to buy their own small maple evaporator so they could make and sell their own maple syrup. The brothers decided to put a card table by the road to sell extra tomatoes that their mom grew and some maple syrup that Gordon made. In less than two hours all the syrup had been sold. So they continued to add more syrup and extra produce from their Mom’s garden and now operate a year-round farm stand.

Tibbitts Bros. Farm Stand is a year-round farm stand offering pure maple products, farm fresh eggs, milk and seasonal items such as flowers, pumpkins, wreaths and Christmas trees.

What you’ll find here

Along with maple syrup, eggs, and vegetables from mom Karri’s garden, now that it’s September you’ll find pumpkins, gourds and other seasonal items like potted mums.

The farm stand has grown from just a card table at the side of the road. They built a small farm stand with their father and grandfather and will sell wreaths and Christmas trees later in the season.

Did you know…

Gordon and Kyle are the youngest maple producers in NY state. At the ages 11 and 6 they purchased their first evaporator and tapped their own trees to make their own maple syrup.

Both Gordon and Kyle are the youngest to have completed in the Grow NY Youth competition.

The farm was once a dairy farm before a fire destroyed it in 2000.
