The 183rd Annual Fonda Fair takes place August 28th through September 2, 2023 at the Fonda Fairgrounds, 21 Bridge Street, Fonda, Montgomery County, NY.

Makers of the Mohawk Valley

Herkimer College presents Makers of the Mohawk Valley beginning Friday, August 30, 2024.

The exhibit will feature art and other fine crafted objects produced by individuals ages 18 and above who live or work in the Mohawk Valley. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The opening will take place on Friday, August 30 with a reception from 5-7 p.m. in the Cogar Gallery. The show will conclude on Friday, September 27.

Iroquois Arts Festival

41st Annual Iroquois Arts Festival takes place from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31 & Sunday, September 1, 2024 at the Iroquois Museum in Howes Caves, New York.

This event celebrates Iroquois creativity by featuring an all-Iroquois Art Market open to Haudenosaunee artists and artisans. Both traditional and contemporary arts and fine crafts are showcased. The Sky Dancers from Six Nations Reserve in Ontario will perform traditional Iroquois social dances, and invite the public out onto the dance floor to participate. The 20-member Iroquois Indian Marching Band from Tuscarora will perform on Saturday. Onondaga storyteller Perry Ground will return with dramatic tales of daring feats and astounding adventures. Family activity area will feature participatory crafts. Local wildlife rehabilitator Kelly Martin will discuss wildlife conservation in our region and present a variety of native animals including birds of prey. The Museum’s archeology department will be available to help identify archeological finds and give demonstrations of flintknapping and other early technologies.

Rock the Lock at Schoharie Crossing

Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site is happy to announce the 2024 ROCK the LOCK music series.

Three afternoons of music will occur in August outside the Visitor Center and feature local as well as regional acts. Performances will be Jon Wager opening for SIRSY on August 31st. This free events is open to the public. Bring a lawn chair and dress for the weather. The Schoharie Crossing Visitor Center is located at 129 Schoharie Street in Fort Hunter, Montgomery County.

4th Annual Sunset Festival

Join in the fun at the 4th Annual Sunflower Festival host by Empty Pockets Ranch located at 5172 State Route 145 Cobleskill, NY.  

Organizers are opening the fields up for U-pick sunflowers and zinnias this year! Joining in the fun will be Whispering Willow Wildlife Rescue, dog tricks and agility sessions put on by SUNY Cobleskill, pony rides, vendors, live music, food trucks, bounce houses, petting zoo and more! $10 per car parking fee.

Rome Family Fun Day

The Rome Family Funday Tornado Relief takes place from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at City of Rome Youth Baseball – Cal Ripken Field located at 701 Bell Road, Rome, NY.

Event will include the 2nd annual Free school supply give away, Live Dj and entertainment,  Wiffleball and kickball tournaments, crafts and vendors on site with tons of goods, concession stand fully open with full menu plus some specialty items that’ll blow your socks off! There will also be ‘Touch a Truck’ with local law enforcement agencies, with interactive opportunities for kids from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.Plenty of fun for the whole family! there is a $5 donation per adult. Kids Free. Event to Benefit Rome Youth Baseball Field, and all other proceeds will go to the Rome Relief Fund to help families still recovering from the tornado!

Fine Arts on the Lawn

The Cooperstown Art Association hosts the Fine Arts on the Lawn exhibit, Saturday & Sunday of Labor Day Weekend, August 31st & September 1st located at 22 Main Street in Cooperstown NY–rain or shine!

This outdoor sale of artwork is open 10am – 4pm daily and will consist of artist-run tents on the lawn, as well as work, in a variety of mediums, by artist members of the CAA on the front porch. This sale of original artwork includes oils, photography, printmaking, watercolors, pen & ink, drawings, pastels and much more! Fine Arts on the Lawn is paid for in-part by Otsego County Government. Bring your family and enjoy music all weekend featuring “Duopoly”, with Gus Leinhart & John Davey, from 11am-1pm both Saturday & Sunday as well “James Leinhart & Friends” from 2-4pm Saturday & Mike Herman from 2-4pm Sunday! But music is not the only thing we will be serving up this weekend, Rick’s Hot Dog Cart will be available both days serving up delicious hot dogs all weekend long.
