Mohawk Valley Today Featured Weekend Events December 20-22, 2024

Events across the Mohawk Valley continue to help make the season bright with plenty of fun and holiday spirit! Here are just a few for the weekend of December 20 through December 22! Thank you to Cooperstown, Gloversville, Little Falls, Nelliston, Rome, and others, for sending holiday events for us to share! You can still get fresh local produce at area farmers’ markets and farm stores across the Mohawk Valley!

Free Penguin Fun Grab n Go Bags at the Old Forge Library

The Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Blvd., will have free Penguin Fun Grab N’ Go bags full of goodies for kids just in time for our local schools’ winter break. Bags may be picked up on Friday, December 20 from 10 am – 4 pm or Saturday, December 21 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Grab N’ Go bags always include crafts, some paper activities for kids to work on at home and other surprises. December crafts are all about Penguins! Please call 315 369-6008 or e-mail oldforge@midyork.org to reserve a bag for a child.

Winter Solstice Celebration and Craft at the Old Forge Library

The community’s annual Winter Solstice Celebration will be on Friday, December 20 starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Old Forge Library. Community members of all ages are invited to meet in the Community Room at the library to make pinecone bird feeders with neighbors and friends. All materials will be provided. At 4:30 p.m., the celebration will move outside and continue with fire and lights. Those wishing to participate are invited to bring lights, and to dress for the weather, as the solstice ceremony is held outside.

Glimmer Nights at Fenimore

Glimmer Nights At Fenimore begin at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 20th, Saturday, December 21st, and Sunday, December 22nd at the Fenimore Farm and Country Village located at 5775 State Route 80, Cooperstown, NY. Experience holiday magic with Glimmer Nights at Fenimore Farm, formerly The Farmers’ Museum! This year, find a larger selection of light displays, free carousel rides, themed weekends, and more. New, family-friendly ticket prices make this second season of Glimmer Nights even more appealing. Kids six and under are FREE! See schedule for multiple events through the end of December!

Food Preservation Classes – Savor and Save!

Join CCE Oneida hosts their final event of the series. The Food Preservation Classes, focusing on fire cider, soup mixes and more, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the Oneida County Home and Farm, (CCE Office) Building on 121 Second Street, Oriskany, NY

The entire series has focused on storing, preserving, and savoring the produce you buy from the Oneida County Public Market (or other markets!).

Little Falls Library Holiday Events

The Little Falls Library has a lot of fun events planned for the month of December. Be sure to check out their famous crocheted holiday tree for the month of December! Everyone is welcome to come in and view this unique holiday decoration.

Eisenadler Brauhaus in Nelliston

Enjoy lively music along with a great time on Saturday, December 21st, and Sunday, Decembar 22nd the Brauhaus on Route 5 in Nelliston where Ken Frank and Jonathan Conover will be returning 5-7 on Saturday will be playing from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
